Monday, Sep. 25th, from 7-8:30pm EST

This class is open to any womxn (woman, femme, trans, non-binary, non-gender-conforming and other, desires to gather within this context) who wishes to create a deeper connection and healing of our ancestral lineage.

Participant identifies as:

  • East Asian

  • Southeast Asian

  • South Asian

  • Middle Eastern

  • Pacific Islander

In this class, participants are invited to join Aki and guest facilitators to explore the ancestral realm for our individual and collective healing. Being ‘Asian’ is not a monolith experience; we gather in this complexity to be fully seen, heard and transform our wounds into our gifts.

Aki Hirata Baker is an immigrant from the mother (is)land of Japan. She is the Founder of MINKA Brooklyn, and it is her desire to be the co-creator of a harmonious future with as many people as possible through this platform. She believes individual healing leads to social healing & change towards equity and peace; and practice of spirituality must always include the process of decolonization within each individual.

Everything offered in this class is an invitation and suggestion—and each participant can choose how they want to engage in this space as long as the safety of the online space is not compromised for the members of the learning community.

The class always includes:

  • Brief check-in, during which all participants are asked to be present on screen for the creation of a sacred community container.

  • Sharing circle to witness and be witnessed.

Depending on the facilitators and the need of the space, you may experience:

  • Activation of the energetic healing in the space.

  • Pulling of an oracle card as part of the intention setting for the community. You can choose to pull your own card to create a focus, or you can choose not to include any of this in your experience.

  • Storytelling or reframing.

  • Meditation and visualization exercise.

  • Embodiment/somatic exercise.

This session is best experienced in:

  • Comfortable and safe physical space when accessible.

  • Clothing that is not binding when possible.

Participants may want to have:

  • Glass of water/herbal infusion or non-caffeinated tea etc.

  • Snack or food for nourishment.

  • Any tool you utilize for healing and grounding.

  • Journal & writing utensil.

  • Yoga mat, blanket or meditation cushion.

Aki Hirata Baker is attuned to various energetic healing frequencies including Usui Reiki, Earth Evolution Reiki, IET, and 13th Octave LaHoChi. She is also a master teacher of Usui Reiki, co-channeller of Earth Evolution Reiki symbols, and the founder of MINKA Brooklyn.  She is a moondancer, and trained under numerous teachers of ancient traditions, including Hatha yoga, pranayama and meditation (Integral Yoga Institute), Ayurvedic Nutrition (Naina Marballi), Art of Energy Healing (Suzy Mezoly), MedicineWay (Irma StarSpirit Turtle Woman), Toltec Healing Practice (Sergio Magaña Ocelocoyotl), Curanderismo (Rita Navarete Prez and Tonia Gonzalez) and more.

June Marisa Kaewsith, also known as "Jumakae," is a wellness consultant, storytelling guide, and life doula that supports others who are in the process of rebirthing themselves and their story medicine. After spending her twenties as an artist and community organizer inside of nonprofit organizations, she began craving an alternative narrative to healing and justice beyond the struggles. Curiosity led her back to Thailand, where she studied with a traditional midwife to learn the birthing ways of her ancestral lineage—and realized the importance of treating life as an everyday ceremony that is worth celebrating until our last breath. Thus sparked her calling to assist others in remembering their purpose on this planet, while reflecting on the legacy they’re here to leave behind when they, too, become an ancestor. Today, she hosts local and international wellness retreats for women and gender expansive folks, and facilitates storytelling workshops for organizations with a passion for social change. You can find her meditating in the morning and twerking at night as her spiritual practice. Check out her Tedx talk, “How to Connect with Your Ancestors” or listen to her weekly(ish) podcast here.

What Is Sliding Scale?

We provide all of our community offerings and some private sessions by sliding scale. We believe everyone is entitled to heal their wounds so they can thrive; we also believe that the wellness and healing practitioners deserve to make a living wage. In order to make this possible, we ask you to pay as much as you can, so those who might not be able to pay as much can still receive their healing session - this is the idea behind 'paying it forward'. We are all in this together, and we choose to do our best to take care of one another.
Thank you in advance!
