After being gifted a Goddess tarot deck as a birthday gift, Ashni began exploring the tarot through dream images and self study, moving to the island of Costa Rica in 2012 she deepened her practice offering beach side readings daily. It was there that she cultivated the confidence and craft to connect, communicate to and through spirit. Upon her return to the states in 2014 Ashni engaged in an apprenticeship with Dainichi Luz and Linda Cohen, which cultivated an understanding of the tarot as it relates to the Kabbalah, plants and archetypal energies. At this stage and after joining the collective at MINKA Brooklyn, the medium became just that and Ashni continued cultivating her intuitive abilities, utilizing cards, clouds, facial expressions to interpret messages from spirit.

Ashni is also a Flower Essence therapist, IET Practitioner, Reiki Master, healing channel, educator, and a private practitioner of Somatic Experiencing. She facilitates ceremonies, meditations, and experiences permeated with love that cultivate radical awareness, appreciation of self, and overall ecstatic wellness within participants and their community with the intention of re-cultivating a deep connection with our Earth mother.

Ashley began her tarot journey with the Motherpeace Tarot. A round deck featuring women from all over the world. From the beginning, it was important to Ashley that the images in the cards reflected her and the life that she was living. Traveling through Mexico in the mid 90’s, Ashley came of age studying the cards and the stars. She would set up her cards in the town square or neighborhood zocalo and share her insights with the travelers, natives and women of the market. Always on the hunt for cards that featured Black Women, Ashley is over the moon at all of the options available today. Her current faves are Dust 2 Onyx by Courtney Alexander and The Black Tarot by ……. If she were to recommend one book for tarot students, it would be Tarot for Your Self by Mary K. Greer.

Paying it Forward
We provide most of our community offerings and private sessions by sliding scale. This is based on the idea of ‘paying it forward’ which enables more people to access healing and wellness. This works when people pay as much as they can for our offerings to help others who may be less fortunate be able to gain access, too. We believe everyone is entitled to heal and thrive, and that practitioners deserve to earn a living wage. We are all in this together and choose to do our best to take care of one another. Thank you for being part of the MINKA community!
