The Tibetan Rites represent a system of exercise that affects the body, emotions and mind. The Tibetans claim that these exercises activate and stimulate the seven key chakras that in turn stimulate all the glands of the endocrine system. The endocrine system is responsible for the body's overall functioning and aging process. This means that the Five Rites will affect the functioning of all your organs and systems, including the physical and energetic systems and that includes the aging process. The man who brought these Five Rights out of Tibet stated that "performing the Five Rites stimulates the circulation of essential life energy throughout the body." In this workshop you will learn how to perform and incorporate the Tibetan Rites into your daily routine.
The Five Tibetan Rites, developed by Tibetan monks, are a series of exercises that focus on enhancing energy, flexibility, and overall well-being.
These exercises are a perfect embodiment of somatic movement principles, which emphasize the internal experience of the body, physical awareness, and mindfulness. Here’s a closer look at how the Tibetan Rites align with our somatic practices:
1. Mind-Body Connection: Each rite requires focused attention on the body's movements and sensations, promoting a strong mind-body connection. This aspect is fundamental to somatic practices, which aim to develop an acute awareness of one’s physical and mental states.
2. Breathing Techniques: The rites incorporate specific breathing patterns synchronized with the movements. This controlled breathing is essential in somatic movement, aiding in relaxation, enhancing circulation, and supporting mental clarity.
3. Physical Awareness: Practicing the Tibetan Rites encourages an in-depth awareness of bodily movements and sensations. This heightened physical awareness helps identify areas of tension or imbalance, which can then be addressed to improve overall health.
4. Flexibility and Strength: The movements in the Tibetan Rites are designed to stretch and strengthen various muscle groups, promoting flexibility and resilience. This aligns with somatic practices that focus on improving the body’s ability to move efficiently and comfortably.
5. Energy Flow: The rites are believed to stimulate and balance the body's energy centers (chakras). This is in harmony with somatic principles that aim to ensure the free flow of energy throughout the body, contributing to vitality and well-being.
Incorporating the Five Tibetan Rites into your life provides a holistic approach to enhancing both physical and mental health. Participants will benefit from this integration, gaining tools to develop greater body awareness, flexibility, and overall well-being.

Paying it Forward
We provide most of our community offerings and private sessions by sliding scale. This is based on the idea of ‘paying it forward’ which enables more people to access healing and wellness. This works when people pay as much as they can for our offerings to help others who may be less fortunate be able to gain access, too. We believe everyone is entitled to heal and thrive, and that practitioners deserve to earn a living wage. We are all in this together and choose to do our best to take care of one another. Thank you for being part of the MINKA community!
