The idea behind this LOVE series: “Love takes off the masks we fear we cannot live without and know we cannot live within.” – James Baldwin.

“Of all the definitions of love that abound in our universe, a special favorite of mine is “the will to extend one’s self for the purpose of nurturing one’s own or another’s spiritual growth.”— bell hooks

“It’s not possible to constantly hold onto crisis. You have to have the love, you have to have the magic. That’s also life.” ~ Toni Morrison

We believe that of all the crises that are ongoing at the moment, perhaps the biggest one is a crisis of love. As we’ve become more atomized, we’ve forgotten how to love each other. As we’ve become less embodied, we’ve forgotten how to love ourselves. As we’ve lost connection to the land, we’ve forgotten how to love the earth. And each loss impacts the other. This has a profound impact. As it is love that reveals truth. It is love that leads to growth. It is love that makes magic happen. It is love that moves us from seeking domination over to seeking kinship with.

This series is meant to move beyond the mainstream notions of love. Instead, it is designed to support us in centering love for ourselves and to see our interconnectedness. It is also not meant to suggest that every crisis we are moving through will miraculously transform because of our belief in love. Instead, it is to provide a pathway to vulnerability, healing, and liberation, both individually and collectively in the midst of these crises; and respond to them with a foundation of love, so that we do not tragically replicate that which we are trying to change. It is time to remember what we’ve forgotten. This is how we get free.

What to bring (Concrete floor - be sure to bring something to be comfortable):

  • Water bottle

  • Comfortable clothing

  • Things to add to the collective altar (you will take these items back with you)

  • Eye mask, yoga mat, blanket, other items needed for breathwork

  • Journal & pen (or whatever else you want to use to write)

  • Nourishing food, beverage or snack to share with your community

Note about Breathwork:

Breath is the conduit of life and consciousness.  Many cultures utilized breath as a way to heal and to connect with the deeper understanding Self.  During this gathering, you will be guided to use the breath for release and cleansing to prepare the fertile soil within.

For those who are pregnant, or have conditions such as epilepsy, glaucoma, high blood pressure without medication, or cardiovascular conditions will be guided to work with relaxing slow breath while working with the energy of release within the collective.  If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to Fumiha at fmtishere@gmail.com

Paying It Forward

We provide most of our community offerings and private sessions by sliding scale. This is based on the idea of ‘paying it forward’ which enables more people to access healing and wellness. This works when people pay as much as they can for our offerings to help others who may be less fortunate be able to gain access, too. We believe everyone is entitled to heal and thrive, and that practitioners deserve to earn a living wage. We are all in this together and choose to do our best to take care of one another. Thank you for being part of the MINKA community!
