Sound Intentions Circle: Blue Moon Power + Poetry

FACILITATED BY: Isabel Mareş
INVESTMENT: $10 - $20 Sliding Scale

Sound Intentions Circle is a radically affirming space where seekers of community - artists, activists, advocates, storytellers - come together.

There can be no revolution without evolution.

The second Full Blue Moon of this year resides in Libra - the sign of Balance and Justice. It will be another 19 years before we get two Blue Moons in a single year. Now is our moment. This March moon is all about shifting the paradigm, and doing so through what we find most familiar. We gather to update our collective notions of Justice and Balance under this moon of Renewal and Growth. We begin to make a shift, as the seasons do, through accepting what was, what is, and from there we play with the possibilities of what’s next. Through poetry and song, we hone in on our power, as individuals and members of larger communities.

Together we will embark on a ritual sound journey harmonizing mindfulness meditation, chanting, storytelling, improvisational poetry and song.

ABOUT ISABEL:

Isabel Mareş is a Romanian-American artist and educator who believes in the power of ritual storytelling. She identifies as queer and differently-abled. As a classically trained singer and lay-practitioner of Mindfulness in the Zen tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh, she incorporates music and meditation as central methods of truth-telling.

Isabel has brought the Sound Intentions Circle to nonprofit and advocacy organizations, universities, and houses of worship. She seeks to create new spaces that facilitate dialogue between people of different abilities and identities. A central part of her work is rooted in connecting back to and honoring the Earth. She studied voice at the Manhattan School of Music and received her Master's in Theology and the Arts from Union Theological Seminary where she studied ritual transformation, interreligious dialogue, and eco-feminism.

Isabel is a native New Yorker based in Brooklyn. Her dharma name is Faithful Rest of the Heart.

What Is Sliding Scale?
We offer all of our community offerings and some private sessions by Sliding Scale.

We believe everyone is entitled to heal their wounds so they can thrive; we also believe that the wellness and healing practitioners deserve to make a living wage. In order to make this possible, we ask you to pay as much as you can, so those who might not be able to pay as much can still receive their healing session - this is the idea behind 'paying it forward'. We are all in this together, and we choose to do our best to take care of one another.

Thank you in advance!
