"Our modern society creates so many young people without roots. They are uprooted from their families and their society; they wander around, not quite human beings, because they do not have roots...They live on the margins, looking for a home, for something to belong to. They are like trees without roots...A tree without roots cannot absorb anything; it cannot survive. Even if they practice intensively for ten years, it’s very hard for them to be transformed if they remain an island, if they cannot establish a link with other people.” - Thich Nhat Hanh "The Practice of Sangha"
Now is a time to fertilize what we want to grow; a time to make connections that nourish our hearts and our home; a time to set roots in one another. Now is a time to gather. In a world where we can get caught in personal bubbles, stuck in the cycles of work and responsibility, or clinging to relationships that don't honor our whole selves, it seems easy to forget the deep importance of finding our people and building community. In a time where compassion is an act of resistance, where expressing love and acceptance seems like radical action, it is more potent than ever to claim our collective space.
The intention of this gathering is to create a recurring and empowering space to build connection among women in our community. There are ancient histories of women’s circles that have stubbornly persisted through the oppression of the feminine. This Sacred Circle is a space to join in meaningful ritual, to see and hear one another, and to fill our cups with the kindness and love of women who were previously strangers.
